What is the Maxim Toolbox made of?Updated 2 hours ago

Every Maxim toolbox is built from heavy-duty steel with a reinforced twin-wall outer shell, finished in a rust and solvent resistant high-gloss powder coat. This is the same steel and drawer construction used across our roll cabinets, top chests, side lockers and side cabinets.

Steel gauge refers to the thickness of the sheet metal, and it varies by toolbox size. The 27" and 42" ranges use 1.0mm steel for the outer case and 0.8mm for the drawers. The 54", 60" and 72" ranges step up to 1.2mm steel throughout, case and drawers alike.

A thicker gauge means less flex in the case, less denting from daily knocks, and drawers that hold their shape under load for years rather than months. It's one of the key differences between a proper workshop toolbox and a lighter-duty cabinet built for occasional use.
