What steel gauge is used in Maxim roll cabinets?Updated 2 hours ago
Steel gauge is the single biggest difference between a Maxim toolbox and a cheaper roll cabinet. It's also one of the most common questions we get, so here's the exact steel thickness used across the Maxim range.
Steel gauge refers to the thickness of the sheet metal used to build a toolbox, measured in millimetres. The lower the number, the thicker the steel. A thicker gauge means less flex in the case, less denting from daily knocks, and drawers that hold their shape under load for years, not months.
Steel gauge by toolbox size:
| Series | Outer case | Drawers |
|---|---|---|
27" and 42" | 1.0mm | 0.8mm |
54" and 72" | 1.2mm | 1.2mm |
60" | 1.2mm | 1.2mm |
